Good Details to Know

  • The towns we visit on this tour are all at approximately 6,000 feet above sea level, considered a higher altitude. Drinking plenty of bottled water will ensure you stay hydrated, the biggest concern with visiting a higher altitude.
  • The weather experience will be low temperatures in the mid 50's and high temperatures in the mid-70's. This is a also a drier time of year.
  • This tour is comprised of easy walks in town, albeit at times, on dirt paths while at farms and wineries . The Centros have cobblestoned streets, and where Querétaro is flat, San Miguel has some hills, Cadereyta is a Hacienda and has both. Appropriate walking shoes will make your trip more comfortable and enjoyable. If you know you suffer from altitude sickness, you may wish to consider another tour.
  • This trip takes place on Central Standard Time (CST) which is 2 hours ahead of Pacific Standard Time (PST) and 1 hour behind Eastern Standard Time (EST).
  • You may wish to contact your cell phone provider if you wish to have phone service while away. Many companies will offer one week international packages for very reasonable fees to stay in touch with loved ones. WiFi is available at our Querétaro and San Miguel hotels. Cell service is available in the Cadereyta countryside but it is limited. WiFi is not available there.

Important Travel Information
All travelers MUST have a valid passport to enter Mexico. A birth certificate alone is no longer acceptable to travel to Mexico.  A passport typically takes 6 weeks to obtain, 3 weeks if expedited and 8 days if expedited at an agency (all for additional fees). Please review the U.S. Department of State's International Travel site for details about passports.

There are many helpful web articles about best practices for traveling international with helpful hints about credit cards, calling plans, passport and healthy safety. We always suggest our clients "read up" prior to departure to be prepared.

About Group Travel
Group travel isn't for everyone but we find it to be one of the most enjoyable ways to explore a new place. Small group travel is different from larger group travel, allowing for more agility and even flexibility where necessary. You'll meet amazing, like-minded people on our tours, who love to explore and experience new things as much as you do. We allow for ample "non-group time" where you can be independent and have time to yourselves if you wish. This tour also requires a relaxed attitude, as not everything always goes to plan in a country like Mexico. We may need to be flexible due to circumstances out of our control, but you will always be taken care of and always be presented with the best options we have available to us.

We also ask that while we have a responsibility to make your experience our top priority, we ask that you too, be responsible for your own actions, by arriving on time to designated locations and not keep your other traveler friends waiting.

Fitness Level
This tour requires no specific fitness level other than being able to handle walking on varied surfaces throughout the day. While horseback riding, kayaking, hiking and the like are made available at the Hacienda, you are by no means required to participate in them. You may exert yourself as much or as little as you wish.

Health Concerns and Medical Emergencies
As we will be at altitude, people not accustomed to this will find they dehydrate quickly. It is important for you to drink bottled water frequently throughout the day to avoid headaches or becoming winded. If you have known issues with altitude sickness please consult your health-care practitioner and or consider that this tour may not be for your. We are in no rush and neither should you be!

While stomach issues can be a bother while traveling we suggest you speak with your health-care practitioner for their best suggested advice on enjoying your trip to the fullest. Pharmacies are readily available in Querétaro and San Miguel and we have availability to health care professionals should the need arise for any traveler.

What is not included in the tour?
Airfare, any additional activities not stated in the final itinerary, car rental should you choose, any items or experiences of a personal nature such as souvenirs, spa treatments and personal expenses. Airport transfers are not included if you wish to arrive/depart from any airport other than Santiago de Querétaro International.
